After holding the largest inaugural 8k event in the west of Ireland in 2015, Castlehackett 8k continued to hold highly successful events in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
We are very grateful to you for supporting our event and we hope that all runners who enjoyed our unique and friendly atmosphere on those memorable occasions will once again join us for our FIFTH Castlehackett 8k on Sunday, June 9th, 2019.
This year promises to continue to grow and we expect it will be even bigger and better than before. We invite you to participate again this year and we would be grateful if you could bring as many friends and family members as possible on the day.
Our hard-working committee all enjoy running themselves and are going out of their way again this year to ensure that like last year our event will simply be the best 8k in Galway this year.
Registration can be done any time in advance at the school itself, or on the morning of the race itself. We encourage you to register in advance if possible to free up more time for warm-up and socialising on the morning of the run; we will also have Technical Shirts for the first 300 registrants.

The Route

The course is in the foothills of the renowned Knockma and caters for seasoned runners and beginners alike.  See map attached.

How do I register?

Registration is open now and there are several ways to register. You can download our registration form here and post in your entry or you can call in to Castlehackett NS during school hours (8:50 – 2:30pm Monday to Friday). Or if you’d prefer to register on the morning of the race, feel free to do so. Registration will close at 9:45am on the morning of the race.

The cost of the race is €15 pre-reg or €20 on the day, per adult. Students (post-primary or third-level) €10.  All monies raised will go towards funding an athletics track for local pupils.

Are there any refreshments after?

Here at Castlehackett, we love any excuse for a social get-together so this is no exception. There will be refreshments along the route for those who need them and once you’ve finished the race, we would encourage you to join us for a cup of tea and some well-deserved goodies in the hall after.

What about results?

The race will be digitally recorded and results will be posted online.

Happy training and enjoy the race!
